95 - By the Grace of God

By the Grace of God

Philippians 1:6 NASB

"For I am confident of this very thing, that He who began a good work in you will perfect it until the day of Christ Jesus."

1 Thessalonians 5:23-24 NASB

"Now may the God of peace Himself sanctify you entirely; and may your spirit and soul and body be preserved complete, without blame at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. Faithful is He who calls you, and He also will bring it to pass."

By the grace of God, we in Christ are who we are. - 1 Corinthians 15:10 He has brought us into fellowship through His Son and all we have, our spiritual standing, and all spiritual blessings are through Him. - 1 Corinthians 4:7 This is His Kingdom, His plan from before time began. We have been brought into a truth far grander than ourselves. When we were still sinners, Christ gave Himself up for us, to make us new, the ultimate act of grace. He has filled us with His Spirit, guiding us, leading us by His hand, showing us His way. A way we never knew till He took hold of us. It is God who is at work in us, both to will and to work for His good pleasure. - Philippians 2:13

The fullness of our spirituality has come from Him, it is His working. We have been spiritually reborn, recreated only through what He has done. Our walk in the body is transformed wholly by the renewing of our minds, setting them on what He has accomplished, who we now are through Him. This is God's grace toward us—His hand working in all things bringing about His fullness in our lives.

Seeing ourselves in a right frame of mind humbled by His grace we don't think lowly of ourselves as if we were in a perpetual state of unworthiness, or too highly of ourselves striving to accomplish His work through our own doing, our own strength. We understand that God has laid out a foundation of acceptance wherein we see past ourselves and the fallibilities of the flesh. To fix our eyes on Him in order for our minds to renew with what is true and right that our walk in the body may be transformed. - Romans 12:2

We were dead in our sins, but God has made us alive. When once we were not, God has made us into His holy and righteous people. We are His children, a royal priesthood, saints of the Most High. We grow in our confidence that God is able to do what He has promised. It is His hand carrying us through till the day of Christ Jesus.

Romans 4:17-21 NASB

"(as it is written, “A FATHER OF MANY NATIONS HAVE I MADE YOU”) in the presence of Him whom he believed, even God, who gives life to the dead and calls into being that which does not exist. In hope against hope he believed, so that he might become a father of many nations according to that which had been spoken, “SO SHALL YOUR DESCENDANTS BE.” Without becoming weak in faith he contemplated his own body, now as good as dead since he was about a hundred years old, and the deadness of Sarah’s womb; yet, with respect to the promise of God, he did not waver in unbelief but grew strong in faith, giving glory to God, and being fully assured that what God had promised, He was able also to perform."

Like Abraham we too are told something truly magnificent. We are told that we have been recreated in His likeness, in righteousness and holiness. - Ephesians 4:23-24 We believe God to be faithful even though our walk in the flesh is far from being in line with our recreated spiritual selves, we trust in Him that He will carry out His plan in our lives. When we are tempted to look at ourselves as we no longer are and our focus is on the flesh, we lose sight of His grace telling us we are something completely new. We can assure ourselves of His promise that He will continue to transform our walk into the likeness of His Son, who He has made us to be.
