John 10:10 AMP
"I came that they may have and enjoy life, and have it in abundance to the full, till it overflows."
2 Peter 1:3 AMP
"For His divine power has bestowed on us absolutely everything necessary for a dynamic spiritual life and godliness, through true and personal knowledge of Him who called us by His own glory and excellence."
Ephesians 1:3 AMP
"Blessed and worthy of praise be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly realms in Christ."
We in Christ often look to the fulfillment of our worldly desires as the answer to our prayers. We may be praying to God for Him to change our lives, and waiting patiently for His timing. But what we may not grasp is that what He has already brought about through His Son and blessed us with is beyond all this world could ever offer. God's desire is that we acknowledge what He has already done. We just may find that the desires of our hearts have already been fulfilled through Christ. That we can find our fulfillment and purpose through them bringing about the life in us God desires.
When Jesus proclaimed that He came that we may have life in abundance He revealed what was to come through His sacrifice. That He Himself is life to be enjoyed abundantly. Christ in us, filled to the full, and overflowing. To become in us a spring of water satisfying our thirst for God, welling up and continually flowing, bubbling within us to eternal life. (John 4:14 AMP) This life in Christ is not the life we claim to have developed through our worldly striving, but a new life given to us as a gift. It is not in the wealth of this world, but of Christ living in us. (Galatians 2:20 AMP)
For us, God's timing has come. Not for us to wait in anticipation, the fulfillment of our worldly needs and wants, but to recognize His answer has come through Christ. He has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly realms to be lived out and enjoyed. God has given us everything we need for a satisfying and abundant spiritual life. We are not to miss the new life Christ offers looking for it to appear in the transient of this world when it has already appeared by the hand of God.
Blessing us with everything we need means we have all we need. We actually have at our disposal the fullness of all He has prepared for us. What God has already blessed us with is exceedingly more than all we could ask or imagine. God's blessings through His Holy Spirit, the fruits of the Spirit, love, joy, peace, patience, goodness, kindness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control have the power to change every aspect of our existence. They change our mindset, permeating everything we do.
God has recreated us, we are reborn, the old is gone the new has come. In this newness, our reality, our whole identity has been transformed. Through this new perspective we overcome the world as Christ overcame. This newness of mind, realizing who we now are and what we possess, moving from the transient to the eternal, we have a whole new life purpose eclipsing our past life and all we once strove for.
What was God's desire for the rich young ruler when Jesus said to him, "One thing you lack, go and sell all you have and give to the poor and come follow me?" What is God's desire for you and I? Is it more of this world or is it to experience His spiritual blessings within and overflowing? What is your focus when you pray? Where is your home? Where is your treasure? When Jesus was tempted by the devil in the desert, He was offered the treasures of the world if He would bow down and worship him. What was Jesus's response, "YOU SHALL WORSHIP THE LORD YOUR GOD, AND SERVE HIM ONLY."
What has God promised us in Christ? Many of God's promises are found in His spiritual blessings and their realization within us. That we may be filled to all the fullness of God. (Ephesians 3:19 AMP) That we may come to understand His boundless love toward us in Christ Jesus. To be satisfied with Christ's peace and joy within. That through the Holy Spirit we may learn the hidden secrets of wisdom and understanding in Christ. Renewing our minds and transforming our walk. Overflowing with His Spirit, enabling His work in us. Our walk in the body through faith progressively aligning itself with our recreated spiritual selves to be like God in true righteousness and holiness. (Ephesians 4:24 AMP)
God's desire for us is that we come to experience all He has destined for us in Christ. Not just emotionally, but truly life altering heart and mind experiences. To live out our new life in the here and now as we look towards our true home. To no longer desire the transient things of this world which are passing away but to realize the immeasurable richness of His blessings, and His will and purpose for them in our lives.
